Hold on to that feelin*

Hey there, loves.  How's your hump day going?  This week has been one of the s l o w e s t of my life.  It always feels like that right after a week off, I think.  Anyway, I've got a treat for you today...an EOTD!  But first, my OOTD (well, more like outfit of yesterday...I'm being a little delayed).

I'd like to start by saying this:  I swear to God, I did not wear all this purple because it's Justin Bieber's birthday. I honestly did not know it was Justin Bieber's birthday until 6th period.  I don't care about Justin Bieber.  I don't hate him, I don't love him...I'm indifferent.  I am definitely NOT a fangirl.  With that disclaimer, we can get started.
So I started with a ruffled purple cardigan over a darker purple tank top.  My cardigan was lighter than the one pictured and my tank top was darker. The contrast is extremely necessary.  I put Hydraulic skinny jeans.  Mine are medium wash, but I think just about any shade of blue will work, depending on whether you want the outfit to be light and airy (light wash), casual (medium wash), or more formal (dark wash).  It's up you, dear readers.  And then I pulled on my UGGs and my pearl cluster necklace, which has become my go-to necklace because I broke my bird necklace.  I will try to fix it, because I dearly love that birdie necklace.  Pray for me, dears.

It's been awhile since I posted one of these, so I hope you like it.  It's very feminine, and although I didn't use the Maybelline quad in the picture, that would work perfectly.  Here ya go!
  1. Prime eyes with whatever you normally use.  I use liquid concealer, but it's up to you.
  2. Using a small shadow brush, apply a creamy white to the inner corner and inner third of your eyelid.
  3. Using the other side of the same brush, pat a lavender shadow over the middle third, blending it into the white.
  4. Using either a crease brush or a shadow brush, put a darker purple shadow in your outer V and drag some of the purple along your lower lashline.
  5. Use a blending brush to soften the edges.
Finish up with some mascara, and you're done.

How do you feel about wearing purple?  It's actually a very significant color (Justin Bieber, gay pride...)

Love, Lex.

{ Happy Dr. Seuss Day! }

someday, I'll be livin' in a big ol' city*

I'm super super sorry that I haven't posted in a while, but I was super super busy.  Do I sound super super cheery?  Don't ask me why, cuz I honestly don't know.
Anyway, I thought I'd take a break from the princess outfits, and give you a real OOTD, so here it is.

So I got this cobalt blue dolman from 2b bebe when I went to Woodbury Commons over my President's Week Break (I'll eventually post that haul later.  Since it's outlets, it's hard to find pictures online, which means I'm gonna have to take them on my own, which means it's going to take awhile.).  Anyway, I decided to wear it because it's really soft and flowy and I love it.  And I paired it with my acid wash skinnies from PacSun, but I think any gray skinny jeans would work.  I topped it off with my pearl cluster necklace from Wet Seal and my BRAND NEW UGGS.  Also bought from Woodbury Commons.  I love love love the feeling of new UGGs, when the fur on the inside is so soft and fluffy and untouched.  Oh, I could write a poem about it.  I quickly smudged my Binge 24/7 Pencil around my eyes, and that was it.  And when I wore this (yesterday) it actually did rain, by the way.

So, my lovelies, tell me what you think.  You know I love to hear it.  Do you like outlet shopping?

Love, Lex.

there's someone there to say hello*

I went to see Gnomeo & Juliet today.  It's kind of a father/daughter tradition, we go out to see all those cheesy animated movies.  It was cute, kinda funny, but I wouldn't recommend it.  Then, we went to Salah Edin.  It's this little restaurant in Paterson.  From the outside, it looks like another Arabic sandwich shop, but when you go to the back, it's a quiet little restaurant with the best shawarma sandwiches.  If you don't know what shawarma is, it's basically a pita wrapped around sliced tomato, onion, pickle, and lettuce with meat (either chicken, beef, lamb, or veal) and sauce.  My dad grew up in Saudi Arabia, so he's used to this kind of food.  This restaurant is also super cheap, but the food is great quality.  We got falafel, hummus, pita, 3 shawarma, and 3 drinks all for $20.  I knew we'd be walking around outside and it's cold (we just got more snow last night) so I came up with this super cozy outfit.

I started with gray tights.  But these aren't your average tights.  These are tights made for athletes who are running outside in winter.  So they're thicker, warmer and more comfortable than most tights, but they still look cute.  To brighten up all the grays, I added a blue burnout tank from Delia's.  Over that, I threw on my favorite gray cardigan from Love Culture and a silver owl necklace (also Love Culture--love that store).  To get even more warmth, I pulled on knee-high black chevron socks and then gray suede boots.  I promise, you'll be warm in this outfit.

What do you wear when you want to be warm and cute?  Let me know in the comments!

Love, Lex.

Inspired By ... Jasmine!

Welcome to the second edition of my Inspired By Disney Princesses feature.  Today, I'm going to show you an outfit inspired by Jasmine from Aladdin.  Jasmine is the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah.  As a princess, she is trapped behind the castle walls.  The sultan's evil advisor Jafar has hatched a plan to find a lamp with a genie that can grant him three wishes and make him the new sultan.  Jafar finds out that a peasant named Aladdin is the only one who can unlock the secret cave in which the lamp is hidden.  Jasmine, while disguised as a beggar, meets Aladdin and the two fall in love.  Jafar captures him against Jasmine's wishes.  Aladdin is tricked into finding the lamp in the cave, but ends up trapped inside of it.  Finding the Genie, Aladdin and his monkey trick the Genie into getting them out of the cave.  As his first wish, Aladdin wants to become a prince so that he can marry Jasmine.  The Genie makes him Prince Ali Ababwa and gives him a grand entrance into Agrabah.  Meanwhile, Jafar has come up with a new plan to be sultan:  all he has to do is marry Jasmine.  However, Aladdin has convinced the sultan that he will make a good husband for the princess.  He takes Jasmine on a magic carpet ride.  Jafar captures Aladdin and attempts to kill him by drowning him, but Genie saves him.  When he comes back, Sultan chooses Aladdin as Jasmine's husband instead of Jafar.  When Jafar sees the lamp sticking out of Aladdin's pocket, he realizes his secret and steals the lamp.  Jafar wishes himself to be sultan and banishes Aladdin.  However, Aladdin sneaks back into the palace and fights Jafar for the lamp.  He finally convinces Jafar to wish for himself to be a genie, sucking him back into the lamp.  Aladdin and Jasmine live happily ever after.

So here's the outfit I came up with.  I decided to go with a blue romper because it's comfortable, flowy, and it can be dressed up or down.  I added a black and gold statement necklace because the romper is completely plain.  I paired it with gold gladiator sandals and gold and turquoise earrings.  Next, I found a tiger bracelet, which is symbolic of Jasmine's pet tiger.  Black winged liner would complement this look perfectly, along with a sand-colored manicure.

So, what do you think?  Would you wear a tiger head bracelet?

Love, Lex.

Inspired By...Belle!

Our first princess is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.  She lives in a small French village and is constantly tormented by an egotistical man named Gaston trying to win her affection.  One day, her father, Maurice gets lost in the woods and wanders into the Beast's castle.  The Beast finds him and throws him in the dungeon.  When Maurice doesn't return, Belle is worried and searches for him.  She finds her way to the castle and promises to stay in the castle instead of her father.  The Beast allows her to, and gives her a room.  She meets the servants, who are disguised as household objects.  Maurice returns to the village, asking for help to save his daughter.  The villagemen call him crazy, so he goes to search alone.  Belle finds out that her father is lost in the woods, and the Beast lets her go find him.  When she returns Maurice to the village, Gaston asks for her hand in marriage or else he will take her father to the asylum.  She refuses, telling him about the Beast.  Gaston convinces the village that the Beast is a threatening monster, and the go to kill him.  When they arrive, the Beast lets Gaston fight him because he doesn't think that he will ever see Belle again.  Gaston stabs the Beast just in time for Belle to arrive.  When Belle sees the Beast dying, she sobs, whispering that she loves him.  These words cure the Beast, lifting his curse.  He comes back to life, the servants become human again, the castle's beauty is restored, and the Beast turns into a handsome prince.  Him and Belle live happily ever after.

~Outfit #1~

The first outfit is Belle's daytime wear.  She wears a white puff-sleeved shirt with a blue dress and a white apron as she goes through life in the village.  I swapped out the dress/shirt combo for trendy wide leg trouser jeans and a white eyelet tunic.  I paired it with suede platform pumps and a leather hobo bag (much more chic than Belle's basket!).  For the yes, I think a simple brown kohl pencil will work and throw on an Eiffel Tower necklace because she is French, after all.

~Outfit #2~

The second outfit is based on Belle's gold ball gown.  It's a gorgeous tiered, off-shoulder dress.  I replaced it with a ruffled one-shoulder dress.  I wanted to go for a boho-y vibe with this outfit, so I added green suede wedges and brown accessories.  To emulate the symbolic rose, I chose dark pink nail polish and a matching lip stain.  Throw in a bronze smokey eye, and done.

So, what do you think?  Do you like Belle's style?  Tell me in the comments!

Inspired By the Disney Princesses

This is the start of my second InspiredBy series.  This one features the Disney Princesses:  Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, and Aurora.  Growing up, I adored these girls.  My personal favorite was Ariel.  I guess I've always loved the ocean.  Every girl wants to wear a princess dress, but that's not always appropriate.  Instead, I'll be showing you modern outfits based on these lovely ladies.

Now tell me, who's your favorite Disney princess?

OOTD: Downward Dog

Hey there chicas!  Time for some yoga!
Just kidding, but here's a yogatastic outfit in case you do actually feel like finding your inner peace.  If not, it's still a pretty comfortable look.  You start with yoga pants (duh!) and a navy blue v-neck.  Next I threw on a bright blue striped scarf that was also super soft.  I matched my eyeliner to the scarf with Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in ELECTRIC.  And, of course, I pulled on my trusty UGGs before heading out the door.  You can add a coordinating cardigan if you're feeling a little chilly.  Other than that, you're done.
And you're also super comfortable.
And also completely ready in case you're in a life/death situation that involves yoga.

OOTD: Easy Basics

Let me start by saying, this outfit is the easiest thing on the planet.  You probably have every single piece in your closet already.  Start with your favorite skinny jeans.  Or the ones you hate the most.  It doesn't really matter, as long as they're skinny jeans and they're a basic shade of blue.  Now, find a lace-trim tank.  I'm sure you have one.  Dig a little.  If you really can't find one, any solid color tank will work, but I think the lace adds some detail.  Oh, and make sure it's bright, otherwise you'll just look like a boring blob.  Next, you will need a white henley.  Or a deep v-neck, or any other solid white shirt that will show the tank top.  Then, you're going to need a long necklace.  Mine has feathers.  Maybe yours has bows, or hearts, or jellyfish, who knows.  Just make sure it doesn't have any color, and it should hit below the exposed area of the tank top.  I like cluster necklaces best, but that's just my preference.  Pull on some comfy UGGs, and that's it.  Seriously, that's it.
The key part of this outfit is that tank top.  It's the only bright color, so it draws attention upwards.  It's like magic.
With this outfit, I just wore basic brown eyeliner, barely visible, but just enough to make my lashes look a little thicker.  That's all you need to do!
You're welcome. :)

Outfit Idea: Simply Sexy

I haven't posted an outfit idea in awhile, and I think you'll like this one.
It starts with some basics:  your favorite dark wash jeggings (or skinny jeans, but I think jeggings make it more comfortable) and a light blue button-down.  This would also work with a white button-down, but I chose a blue one from Old Navy (affordable!).  Now comes the sexy:  matching red lipstick and nail polish and cheetah print peep-toes.  I chose peep-toes so you can show of your red pedicure, because I think the red with cheetah print makes a great combination.  I was inspired by these Louboutins, actually.  It's comfortable because of the jeggings, but the cheetah and the red accents amp it up.  What do you think?

NOTD: Flirty Onyx

Here it is, I'm finally posting my paint-splatter nail art.  I used Essie Flirty Fuchsia and OPI Black Onyx.  I took this picture about 3 days into the manicure, so there's tip wear.  I followed this video from BargainPrincess on YouTube, but it didn't come out the way I wanted it to because the pink was too thin and the black was too thick.  And I had lost my dotting tool.  So basically, this whole manicure was a major fail.  But I wanted to show you lovelies, anyway.  Because that's how much I love you.

OOTD: Sunny Skies

Hello, ladies!
Sorry this post is so late.  I meant to post this earlier, but here's what happened.  I made the set on Polyvore, but then something came up and I had to get off the computer, and for some reason, the next time I went back online, I thought I had posted this already.  Whatever.  Here it is...
I started with skinny jeans and a butterfly tank top from American Eagle.  I threw on my Love Culture cardigan (unbottoned) and bracelet from my haul.  I added my DIY circle scarf and SHAZAM!  Instant happiness.  I mean seriously, it's hard not to smile when you're wearing something so bright.  Try it!
Once again, I apologize for the delay.  It was worth it thought, wasn't it?
No?  Well, I'll keep trying.
That's all for now!

Love, Lex.

OOTD/FOTD: SuperBoho

So, who watched the SuperBowl?

...NOT ME.
I just don't like football.  I went to a SuperBowl party, but I only actually watched the halftime show.  I loved the whole Usher falling out of the sky thing.  And the glowing bodysuits...can I get one of those?
Anyway, here's what I wore to the party.  It's a boho-y, easy, kinda look and it was really comfortable.  I started with this top from Kohl's (you read that right, KOHL'S) and my favorite AE skinny jeans.  I added UGGs, a pearl cluster necklace from Wet Seal, and the silver charm bracelet from my haul on Saturday.
I lined my eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Mildew (the name sucks, but it's a beautiful mossy green) and I added a peachy lip gloss from Forever21.  I absolutely love this lip gloss, but they don't sell it anymore...boo. :(

So, what did you do for the SuperBowl?  Who were you rooting for?  More importantly, what did you wear?  Let me know in the comments!

DIY: Circle Scarf

Are you ready for my first DIY?!  I made a circle scarf using the instructions from this video by BrittneyNGray.  I made mine with one large, yellow t-shirt, and I think it came out pretty well.  Here are my results:

It's nice and bright, which will bring some color to my winter wardrobe.  Here's how it looks wrapped twice:
This one's more close-up, so you can see the edges where my cutting got screwed up.  Oh, well.  I think I'm gonna make a two-toned scarf next, using two t-shirts I found.  They're two different shades of brown, so I hope it'll make a nice, cozy scarf.  This was an extremely easy project, no sewing required.  All you need are scissors and a t-shirt, really.  So so simple!  If you try it, let me know how it turns out!  Send me a picture.

Weekly Goals: 2nd Edition

It's a new week, lovelies!  Time for my latest weekly goals.
But first, we reflect on last week (strikethrough means the goal has been completed)...

~Last Week's Goals~

Tidy/Organize entire bedroom.

Come up with ways to incorporate my summer wardrobe into winter.

Start wearing more accessories.

Color combinations: black-and-white with orange, yellow, or red; purple/yellow; blue/orange.

Keep updating my lookbook.

Make a DIY scarf.

Find ways to use my Bedazzler

Lemme count...that's four out of seven.  More than half, but I hope that this week, I'll be better than that.  I actually came up with an outfit using black/white/yellow, but I couldn't find my black leggings, so it didn't work out too well.  Let's move on to this week...

~Weekly Goals~

Come up with ways to incorporate my summer wardrobe into winter.  And then translate these ideas into an outfit.

Color combinations:  black/white/yellow, purple/yellow, blue/orange.

Find ways to use my Bedazzler.  Do you have any ideas you can share with me, dolls?

Remove my current nail polish.  Oh, and I need to get around to posting my most recent NOTD.  And I think I'm going to give my nails a break from polish, maybe give them a strengthening treatment.

Make a collage for my locker.  It needs some pizazz.

Upload music from all my old CD's.  I want to create some CD art, maybe.

Organize my bulletin board.  I have a magnetic board and it tends to get covered with random papers that I'm too lazy to put away.

Finish transferring all my pre-midterm notes out of my notebooks/binders.  It's the second semester, time for some spring cleaning!

Polish all my silver jewelry.  I finally bought some silver polish, now all I have to do is actually use it.

That's all for now, what are you lovelies doing this week?

Love, Lex.

Haul: Willowbrook Mall

I went shopping yesterday, with one of my fabulous best friends, Alyssa.  I set a budget for myself--$25.  You read that right.  TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS.  And I managed to buy myself some gorgeous.  You wanna see?  Oh, I know you do.

Deep V-Neck Cardigan from Love Culture ($12.90).  The website doesn't show this color (jade), I'm not sure why.  It's a beautiful turquoise cardigan with gold buttons.  I have a dark gray cardigan (also Love Culture) and a navy blue one (Forever21), so I've been looking for a lighter, brighter one, and I finally found it!  It was on a mannequin, and I literally screamed at my friend, "Alyssa, thats it!  I NEED THAT CARDIGAN!"  Then, I ran into Love Culture and searched the entire store until I found it.  I'm so excited, I've already envisioned at least ten outfits with it.  I think I'm in loovvvee...

Braided Bead Cuff from Love Culture ($2.90).  I know what you're thinking.  And yes, I did buy it to match the cardigan.  I was trying to choose between this one, and one that was all blue, so I asked my friend Alyssa.  "Well, the yellow one, obviously.  You can wear it with the cardigan!"  So I did.  And also, I don't have any other yellow accessories besides this one, so I'm excited to try something new.

Bow, Heart, & Bird Charm Bracelet from Wet Seal ($6.00).  I don't have anything like this, and I've been looking for a silver charm bracelet for awhile.  I absolutely love this one.  In case you can't see clearly, there's a little silver ball, then a bow, a pearl wrapped in silver leaves, a detailed heart, a little rhinestone ball, a bird, a rose, and another pearl.  It's so feminine and detailed.

That's all for now, my loves.  I spent a total of $21.80, which was under my budget, and I'm proud of myself! How about you guys?  Did you go shopping this weekend?  Tell me what you got in the comments!

Love, Lex.

OOTD: Black & Vesty

Oh, wow, it's been a long time since I've done one of these.  I'm so tired of sweaters.  I really am.  And this morning, I just couldn't wear another sweater.  I just couldn't do it.  So, I said "screw you" to the cold winter air and I wore short sleeves.  Rebellious, I know.  And I had found this black cardi vest from PacSun when I was cleaning out my closet.  It's kinda old, so I couldn't find it online, the one up there from Vans is pretty close though.  I really wanted to wear it, so I came up with this pink and black combination.  I paired my vest with a pink Abercrombie tee similar to this one and my favorite AE skinny jeans.  I accessorized with my black suede boots and a long silver cluster necklace.  My necklace was also from PacSun, similar to this one, except mine is all silver with 3 different size feathers, a small bird, and a grayish jewel.  My makeup was black winged eyeliner and simple lip gloss (more on that later).  That's all for now, bye!

Weekly Goals, 1st Edition

I've decided to start a new weekly feature:  Weekly Goals.  Here I'll post what I hope to complete by the end of this week.  Let's get started!

~Weekly Goals~

Tidy/Organize my entire bedroom.  My room furniture consists off 3 sets of shelves under my windows against one wall, a desk with a hutch, a nighttable, and a dresser.  I already finished organize the dresser drawers and the shelving, I just need to complete the top of the dresser, the desk, and the nighttable.

Come up with ways to incorporate my summer wardrobe into winter.  I am getting so tired of the same sweaters and long sleeved tops all winter long, so I'm trying to find ways to throw in my bright, summery, tanks and tees.  This will probably involve cardigans.  Many, many cardigans.

Start wearing more accessories.  Most mornings, I focus on my clothes and makeup and leave no time for accessories.  The most I'll do is my standard white belt, which I really only wear if my jeans are feeling loose.  Sometimes, I'll remember to put on a necklace, but that's rare.  I'm hoping, now that I've organized all my jewelry, to actually start wearing it.  Especially the bracelets and earrings, those are the most neglected.

Wear the following color combinations, somehow, someway:  black-and-white with orange, yellow, or red; purple and yellow; blue and orange.  I'm not totally sure how I'm going to do this, but I want to incorporate more bright colors into my basic outfits.

Keep updating my lookbook.  That's right, I started a lookbook.  It's actually really fun.  I've got it all set up in an old three-ring binder.  In it, I've put one of those three-hole punches that fits inside a binder.  I use plain white printer paper and cut pictures of outfits, makeup looks, and inspirational sayings from magazines like Teen Vogue.

Make a DIY scarf, from this video I found on YouTube.  I want to make one in yellow and one in black.

Find ways to use this Bedazzler I found in my basement.  It's old, judging by the dust all over the box, but it's unopened and I really want to find something to bedazzle.  If I end up making that black scarf, I think I might put some silver studs on it.  I think I could also find a basic tank top to bedazzle.

That's it for my goals this week.  Now you tell me, what are your goals?  Do you have any tips for my goals (organizing tips, outfit ideas, Bedazzling possibilities...)?  Let me know in the comments!

Wishlist: February '11

Can you believe it's already February?  Yesterday was the first day of the second semester at my school, and I can't believe we're halfway through the year already!  Anyway, I've decided to start doing monthly wishlists, so here's to February...

~February '11 Wishlist~
Dolman tunics.  I absolutely love tunics--with skinny jeans, leggings, or tights, I think they're so fabulous and comfortable.  And I especially love dolman sleeves.  So a dolman tunic?  My idea of perfection.

Abstract & floral skirts.  For awhile, I was never really a skirt girl.  I don't really know why, but I just didn't like skirts.  But now, for some reason, I've been inspired, and I want to buy a whole bunch of printed minis.  I especially love them in bright floral and abstract prints.  They can be worn with opaque black tights while it's cold, or alone when it's warm.  I need to get me some skirts!

Cardigans in every color.  I love cardigans, I really do.  Especially the long, flowy type.  Right now, I have a dark gray cardigan and a navy blue, but I'm looking to get some in brighter hues.  Preferably, every color of the rainbow...a girl can dream, right?

Off shoulder tees.  I have always been obsessed with off-shoulder tops.  And I really need something black-and-white striped.  So this top from Alloy is absolutely perfect.  They have them in 16 different colors, and I WANT THEM ALLLL!

Printed rain boots.  It has been snowing for like, two weeks straight here.  The snowpiles from the plows are almost as tall as I am, and the snow and salt is ruining my suede boots.  I hate the look of snowshoes, so I'm thinkin' rain boots with legwarmers or fuzzy socks tucked into them would do the trick, right?  How about some cute boots, bright blue legwarmers, black leggings, and that gorgeous blue tunic up there?  I die.  And come spring, you can keep wearing them.  I want to get a fun print, and I love anything zebra, so zebra rain boots would be my ultimate shoe.

Bright knit scarves.  I neeeed scarves.  I have about 4, but I want more.  And bright, of course, to warm up these drab winter days.

Now, loves, tell me what you want this month?  What's on your shopping list?

Mood:  chill :)

List: How an iPod Touch Will Help You Style-Wise

Oh hey there, stranger, remember me?  Midterms are finally over, so I'm back!  I was trying to cram in some last -minute studying this morning, so I don't have any good looks to post today (but in case you were wondering, I've got on black skinny jeans and my favorite blue tshirt along with some simple black liner).  Instead, I came up with this list.

~How an iPod Touch (or any smartphone) Will Help You Style-Wise~

ChicFeed, one of my favorite apps.  ChicFeed is a blog that features pictures (just pictures) from a bunch of different fashion blogs (The Sartorialist, Face Hunter, Jak And Jill Blog, Cherry Blossom Girl, LookBook, and altamira).  I like to scroll through it for fashion inspiration, and screenshot the looks I like.  I've even made some outfits modeled after the looks I've seen!

YouTube.  Ahhh, youtube.  How I love thee youtube.  It's an endless resource of nail, hair, and makeup tutorials.  I search for potential looks while I'm getting dressed and eating breakfast, favorite the ones I like, then replay them while I'm doing my makeup.  I've found some really easy nail art designs and hair how-tos too.

Blog/Magazine Apps like PopSugar, Glamour, and Beauty Grub bring you fashion and beauty inspiration in the palm of your hand!  (Do I sound like a commercial?)  This way you can catch up on your reading while on the go.

Glamzy!  Ever done a makeup look that looked great on you, but then forgot what you did later?  This little app lets you create looks on blank face charts and save them to your device.  It's like Paint, but for makeup!  It's got tons of eye, lip, and cheek colors and you can zoom and blend to your heart's content.

TotalBeauty Reviews.  It's the same reviews you see on TotalBeauty.com, but delivered on your iPod.  So next time you're in the beauty aisle, wondering whether that gorgeous new lipgloss is worth it, you can check this handy little app and see what others have to say about it.

Wet Seal iRunway, another favorite.  This app features outfits from The Runway on Wet Seal.  These are outfits made by other shoppers using Wet Seal clothes.  You can copy these looks or just use them as inspiration.  Either way, I love Wet Seal and I love this app :)

And, a little bonus:

Quick Update

I hate to say this, but I may have to put a hold on this blog for the next two weeks.  I have a big ol' term paper to write, plus midterms, and I just don't have the time right now.  I'm so very sorry, but I promise I'll start again after midterms.  See you soon!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

I lalalalove Sydney from The Daybook.  Her blog is fashion and funny all rolled into one.  And she does this cute little weekly special called Awkward and Awesome Thursday, and it makes me laugh every week, so I thought I'd share my Awkward and Awesomes :)

  • When the room is completely silent.  And then you get the sniffles.  And you just have to sniff, or that glob of snot is gonna be running down your face.  And you try to do it as quietly as possible.  But of course it comes out as loud as a bomb explosion.  And everyone in the room pops their head up and turns to you.  And you try to look down like you have no idea what just happened.  But everyone else knows it was you.
  • When you're waiting for a friend at their locker, and you're kinda just standing there in the middle of the hallway while people are trying to get around you, but most of the time, they just end up bumping into you.
  • Trying to carry on a conversation with someone while walking down a narrow hallway/sidewalk so that the other person is behind you.  You basically have two options at this point:  turn your head sideways so you're somewhat angled towards the person, and walk with your sideways head , or keep your head forward so everyone else thinks you're talking to yourself.  Awkward either way.
  • Zoning out, then ending up staring at someone for a really long time, to the point that they start wondering why the hell you're staring at them.
  • Remembering something really funny that happened earlier, then busting out laughing about it, and everyone around you just stares at you, like why is she laughing?
  • When some idiot decides to pull the fire alarm in the middle of lunch and you have to walk outside and stand in line in the freezing cold while holding the giant poster paper that you were on your way to your locker with.  (This one was actually my friend).
  • Watching TV with your younger sister who hasn't gotten her period yet when a tampon commercial comes on and she asks you what a tampon is.
  • A paper cut on your nose.
  • Soft flannel comforters that make you never want to leave your bed.
  • Blue Bunny ice cream.  So creeammmyyy.
  • Purple pens.  It makes taking notes a lil bit less boring.
  • Kickboxing.  You get a workout, and it really helps you get your anger out.
  • Orange juice.  It's healthy and bright and tangy and delicious and its like...a smile, in liquid form :)
  • Earrings that jingle when you turn your head.  Not in that obnoxious clanging way, but in that light little tinkly way.
  • That one pair of sweatpants that's so perfectly baggy and oh-so-soft that you want to wear them everywhere even if you look like a dude.

OOTD/FOTD/NOTD: Purple Thursday

Happy Thursday, lovelies!  I'll be posting my weekly TILT later, but for now I wanted to show you my outfit.  It was another one of those cozy chic kinda looks, and I was warm and comfortable all day!  I paired my favorite cardigan--the gray one from Love Culture, with some basic black leggings.  Mine are opaque and I think they're thicker than most.  They're the cotton kind--not that shiny fabric.  I added a soft heather purple tank top from Gap with lace trim.  This one is close to it, but the lace trim on mine is cream-colored.  I tucked my leggings into my UGGs to stay warm, and tossed on a long necklace to jazz it up a lil' bit.

EOTD:  Purple Smoke
This look is pretty bright and quite shimmery.  You could tone it down with a matte purple, or switch out the dark purple for a more lavenderish color, but here's what I did.

  1. Prime the lid as you usually would.  I use CoverGirl TRUconceal (1).
  2. Using a small eyeshadow brush (2), cover the lid with a shimmery pearl shadow (3).
  3. Using an angled crease brush (4), create an outer V with a dark purple shadow (5).  This one from the Shany palette is a very deep, vivid, pure purple.
  4. Pick up some lighter purple (6) with the other side of the small eyeshadow brush (2) and use it to blend the dark purple with the pearl.
  5. Line the lower waterline with a black pencil (7).
  6. Using a smudge brush (8), drag some dark purple (5) along the outside third of your lower lashline, connecting it to the outer V.
  7. Clean the smudge brush (8), and use it to apply the shimmery purple (3) to your tear duct.
I actually forgot mascara and didn't feel like lip gloss (don't ask me why...I just wasn't feelin' it), but you could add that if you want.

NOTD:  The DVD that Blue Me Away!
I did a subtle sponge gradient yesterday (we had a snow day).  I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away! as the base and sponged on Sally Hansen HD in DVD on the tips.  It came out gorgeous and was very easy.  I'll post the tutorial and some pictures tomorrow probably.

What I'm Feeling:  gloomy...our house is so bare since we took down all the Christmas decorations yesterday.  It's kinda depressing :(
What I'm Hearing:  the heat blasting cuz baby, it's cold outside!

    Mini-Haul/Outfit Idea: Blue & White

Oh god, I haven't posted in like...a week.  I've been busy...and procrastinating.  So to make up for it, I'm giving you dolls an outfit idea to go with my mini-haul!
I've been searching for a wool coat for awhile.  I had a black North Face and a black bomber from Delia's, so I've been looking for something a little bit brighter.  I originally wanted to get a white/cream-colored one, but I realized that would get dirty too easily, so I decided to get a blue coat instead.  On Sunday, I headed over to Burlington Coat Factory.  After searching through the racks, I finally found the perfect one.  It was the Maralyn & Me Short Woolen Peacoat with Four Pockets (the blue coat in the picture).  It fits me perfectly, and is absolutely amazing.
After that, I was at Ski Barn because my sister needed new ski pants.  While waiting for her to try them on, I started playing around with hats.  There was this insane blue suede one with white fur all over it, and ear flaps, and huge pom poms coming down from it.  But I realized I would never wear that, so I got the sensible white Dakine hat instead.
That's it for my mini-haul (yeah, it was a really mini-haul).  I put together a preppy-cozy kinda outfit using the coat and hat.  I added a white long-sleeved Abercrombie v-neck tucked into a blue floral skirt from Mandee. Wear it with opaque black tights for warmth and black suede boots for warmth.  I chose over-the-knee heeled ones to keep it fresh and trendy, but your favorite black boots would work.
What coat are you rockin' this season?

Things I Love Thursday, Vol. 2

Things I Love Thursday, Vol. 2
It's that time of week again, lovelies: Things I Love Thursday!  I love...

    • UTZ Organic Tortilla Chips.  These are the best tortilla chips I have ever had.  In my life.  Most of the brands I've tried are extremely salty, but these have the perfect amount of flavor and crunch.  And they're organic, which is good, right?
    • paint-splattered anything.  I just have a thing for paint-splattering.  I actually DIYed some gray paint-splattered shorts last summer using an old pair of gray skinny jeans, some fabric paint, and a few toothbrushes.  It's actually kinda therapeutic, whipping paint around.
    • Chapstick.  My school is really dry, to the point that my throat gets sore.  Chapstick is a life-saver (lip-saver?) because my lips are uber-sensitive.
    • Big Time Rush.  You know that one TV show that you'd be really embarassed if someone saw you watching, yet you don't miss a single episode?  Come on, everybody has one.  Mine is Big Time Rush.  It's a show on Nickelodeon about these four guys who just happen to be best friends and just happen to amazing singers and just happen to be discovered by some huge record label.  Oh, and they all just happen to be kinda hot.  Logan is the brainiac with a polished style consisting mostly of blazers.  Kendall is the lead guy who constantly pulls the group together when they're feeling down with intense inspirational speeches.  Carlos is the slightly demented one who tends to break things and always wears a helmet to protect himself.  James is the self-obsessed, aspiring male model who will do anything to impress a girl.  As a band, they're slightly over-choreographed, but their songs are actually really good.  Wow...I can't believe I wrote an entire paragraph about that...
    • Drew Roy.  Hello, Gorgeous.  He's been on Hannah Montana and iCarly, and in both roles he played the hunky bad boy.  He kinda has that Chad Michael Murry squinty-eye thing going on, but he's pretty damn hot.
    • Snuggies!  My best guy friend gave me the peace snuggie, and I've been wearing it 24/7.  I know it's like a huge joke, but it's also really soft and actually does keep you warm.  That Snuggie chick looks kinda funny next to Drew Roy, but...ILoveMySnuggie<3
    • NP Pretty Presto Set.  This is absolutely amazing.  The shadows are slightly shimmery, super flattering, and easily blendable.  The mini-sized mascara works as well as more expensive, full-sized brands.  And the lip gloss will work for any skin tone.  The only thing I can't say I love is the blush, because I'm just not a blush kinda girl.  I'll post a review soon.
    • Suede Boots.  Especially in the form of flat and slouchy.  I believe that every girl should own a pair of suede boots.  I have black ones, and I absolutely love them.  Suede is so soft and boots like these go with anything.
    • Turquoise.  Y'know, the color.  In clothes, nail polish, makeup, accessories...I don't think I've ever met a shade of turquoise that I haven't loved.
    • Owl necklaces.  Any color, any kind.  Owls are just so adorable in necklace form.  I love these lil' guys.
    • "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)" by Enrique Iglesias.  My current fave song.  I know it's completely edited, and I would never want to see this guy in concert, but I really like dance songs like this.
What are you lovin' this Thursday?

    FOTD: Smoky Blue

Today, my outfit was another off-the-shoulder gray sweater with blue skinny jeans and UGGs.  I'm in a fashion rut.  Oh, and I was having one of the worst hair/makeup days, so I've decided to post my FOTD from yesterday.  It was a gorgeous, smoky, shimmery blue and I was so happy with the way it turned out because it's one of the most complicated looks I've done in a while.  I've got a Polyvore-aided tutorial for you, so get ready!

    1. Start with primed lids.  I use CoverGirl TRUconceal Concealer in shade 5, because it's too dark for me to use as a concealer and I didn't want it to go to waste.
    2. Using EcoTools shade brush, apply a medium, shimmery blue all over the lid, concentrating the color on the inner half.  I used shadows from my Shany Shimmer kit for this look, but you could use your own shadows.
    3. Using EcoTools crease brush, apply a dark, navyish, blue to your outer V.  Use a windshield-wiper motion to blend it in the crease.
    4. Using EcoTools smudge brush, apply a bright, shimmery blue to your inner V.
    5. Line your waterline with a deep black pencil.  My favorite eyeliner for the waterline is CoverGirl Liquiline Blast in Blackfire.
    6. Line your lower lashline with UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Binge.  Smudge with your finger, a Qtip, or a smudge brush (I used my EcoTools smudge brush).
    7. Apply a few swipes of mascara.  I used the mini one from my NP set.
    8. Apply a nude, shimmery gloss to your lips for that classic smoky eye/nude lips combo.  I used the NP set again.
    9. Clean up any excess with a Qtip.
There you have it.  I wore this to school, but if you applied the color heavily, it could work for nighttime too.

      OOTD: Gray Wednesday

This outfit was comfortable in every way.  I started with a super-soft, off-the-shoulder gray sweater.  It has a splatter heart design on the front.  Mine was a birthday gift, so I can't find it online, but this one from Revolve is also really cute.  I love the crochet details.  I paired it with my favorite dark wash skinny jeans from American Eagle.  Finally, I accessorized with my white beret and chocolate UGGs.  There wasn't much color, so I did a bright eye, but I don't have time to post that now.  I'll try to do it later, because it came out really pretty.

      What I'm Feeling:  cozy :)

      George Balanchine's The Nucracker
      TopHatShoesEarringsLeggingsRose Drawing
Yesterday, we went to see The Nutcracker in New York City.  After that, we went out for BBQ at Southern Hospitality.  The ballet was amazing, and the food was awesome too.  The weather was pretty warm for a New York winter, so I was fine with just my Delia's bomber.

OOTD:  The shirt and leggings combo was from Christmas (yes, I re-wear outfits!).  The leggings featured here are from Victoria's Secret, but mine were H&M.  I wore a white Minicci beret from Payless, but this one from Forever21 is pretty similar.  I absolutely lovelovelove these AE flats.  Actually, I love all AE flats, but these are especially my favorite.  It's like...silver glitter polish over black.  These adorable little rose earrings were part of a birthday gift last year.  They're also Forever21.

My makeup was pretty boring, so I don't feel like posting that.  Adios!
